American Fork’s Main Street/U.S. 89 Corridor has great opportunities for growth and significant challenges to maintain a sense identity and vibrancy. During the summer of 2009 American Fork City and the Mountainland Association of Governments teamed up to sponsor a visioning and planning process for the future of the corridor. Some of the recommendations include: widening streets, light rail, a transit connection to the Front Runner Station through the Meadows and more.
This 100-year old corridor of commerce and residential use is still the heart of the American Fork community. Its unique role is as a community gathering place – not as the major sales tax generator. Because of this, the scale of Main Street is smaller, more pedestrian-friendly and unique in relation to today's big box developments. Below find a poster that is the results of the 4 month long vision Charrette that Salt Lake City Utah Based architectural firm CRSA lead to recommend a new American Fork City Main Street Vision.
